Lagos Deepens Global Creative Economy Ties in California, New York
Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, alongside members of the Lagos State Executive Council, recently joined the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, on a working visit to San Francisco, California, and New York, United States of America.
The visit included the formalisation of a Sister-State partnership with California through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), aimed at fostering collaboration in tourism and the creative industry, multimodal transportation and information technology. The partnership is expected to deepen collaboration, unlock shared opportunities and strengthen economic ties.
In New York, the delegation engaged global investors and strategic partners on the vast opportunities in Lagos’ tourism, arts, culture and creative economy.
During the tour, we also witnessed the growing global recognition of Lagos-born and Lagos-based artistes, including Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Asake and Fireboy DML, alongside other leading creative brands.
This is a proud reminder of Lagos’ continuing role in powering global entertainment and shaping the sound and influence of Afrobeats.
