2027 Lagos Guber: 93-Year-Old Pa Adio Urges Tinubu to Honour Promise to Badagry

Elder statesman, Pa Andu Liadi Adio, has strongly appealed to Bola Ahmed Tinubu to fulfil the long-standing promise that Badagry Division will one day produce the Governor of Lagos State.

He also stated that he has continued to prevail on youths agitating for the position to remain calm and hopeful that justice will be done for Badagry.

While addressing the media at his residence in Badagry, the elder statesman expressed optimism that the President will not disappoint residents in their quest to produce the number one citizen of the state.

The 93-year-old elder statesman maintained that this is the right time for Badagry to take over the mantle of leadership after many years of neglect.

He recalled that when the President, then as Lagos State Governor, requested for a nominee from Badagry to work with him, the zone presented Olanrewaju Saka Shenayon, who served as the State Commissioner for Rural Development and Infrastructure during his first tenure.

According to him, the nomination of Saka Shenayon in 1999 debunks the widespread misconception that Badagry lacks qualified individuals to serve the state.

On his part, the former Lagos State Commissioner for Rural Development and Infrastructure, Hon. Olanrewaju Saka-Shenayon, said there is no cause for concern regarding the track record of Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose, despite his private sector background.

He added that Ajose, popularly known as “SMA Gold,” has contributed significantly to the socio-economic development of residents in Lagos West and to the growth of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Also speaking, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Rafeequat Arinola Onabamiro, pointed out that Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose is well prepared and suitably positioned for the governorship, given his over three decades of experience in the private sector.

She noted that former Lagos State Governors, including Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Babatunde Fashola, and Akinwunmi Ambode, did not begin their careers as core politicians but still left impactful legacies.

Hon. Onabamiro lamented that since the creation of Lagos State in 1967, Badagry has not produced a Military Governor, Deputy Governor, Minister, or Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

She concluded that Lagos West Senatorial District is in unison in supporting the candidacy of Dr. Samuel Mawuyon Ajose as the governorship candidate for the 2027 general elections.
