NIPR INVITES NEMA DG TO INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY EVENT, COMMENDS HER LEADERSHIP AND CONTRIBUTIONS TO PUBLIC SERVICE
In recognition of her impactful leadership and contributions to strengthening emergency management in Nigeria, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has invited the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mrs. Zubaida Umar, to participate in its maiden International Women’s Day (IWD) programme scheduled for March 2026.
The invitation was conveyed during a courtesy visit to the NEMA Headquarters in Abuja by the NIPR International Women’s Day Planning Committee, led by its Chairman, Hajiya Lami Tumaka.
Hajiya Tumaka explained that Mrs. Zubaida Umar was selected for the honour in recognition of her exemplary leadership and to enable her lend her voice to the narrative encapsulated in the theme of the International Women’s Day celebration, which highlights the critical contributions of women in leadership, governance, and nation-building.
She further noted that Mrs. Zubaida Umar represents a worthy role model whose professional accomplishments, dedication to public service, and transformational leadership continue to inspire women across various sectors, particularly in the fields of emergency management and public administration.
Responding, the Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, expressed appreciation to the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations for the thoughtful invitation and commended the Institute for its sustained efforts in advancing professionalism and strengthening public relations practice in Nigeria.
Mrs. Zubaida Umar also commended the Institute for recognizing the invaluable contributions of women in leadership and professional development, describing the initiative as a significant step toward promoting gender inclusion, professional excellence, and sustainable national development.
She reaffirmed NEMA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote effective communication, inclusive leadership, and institutional collaboration in advancing national resilience and development.
