Lagos APC Slams PDP: “You Thrive on Tragedy—Nigeria Won’t Collapse for Your Pleasure”
The Lagos State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched a blistering response to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), accusing the opposition of intellectual laziness, desperation, and wishing insecurity upon Nigeria for political relevance.
The PDP had earlier alleged that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had “surrendered” to terrorists following temporary school closures in some parts of the country. But the Lagos APC described the claim as “mindless, illogical and proof of an opposition drowning in frustration.”
According to the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji (Hon.) Seye Oladejo, only a “frustrated, irrelevant and idea-bankrupt” political party would interpret strategic security measures as capitulation.
“PDP is simply angry that Nigeria is not burning the way it desperately hoped for,” the statement read.
The APC said nothing exposed the PDP’s hypocrisy more than the intelligence-led rescue of the Eruku 38, asserting that the successful operation shattered the opposition’s “collapsed Armageddon prophecy.”
The party added that the ongoing progress toward rescuing remaining captives shows leadership and competence — qualities it said were missing during the PDP’s 16 years “of excuses and tears.”
“Now that insecurity is being dismantled, the PDP must manufacture a new tragedy to stay relevant,” Oladejo said.
The APC also berated the PDP for describing President Tinubu’s cancelled foreign trip, taken to personally oversee rescue operations, as “tokenism.”
“Only a party that treated governance like beer-parlour gossip would trivialise such an act of responsibility,” the statement added.
The Lagos APC further reminded Nigerians of the PDP’s legacy on insecurity, accusing the party of allowing Boko Haram to grow into a monster, losing territories to terrorists, normalising ransom payments, and overseeing mass abductions.
“Tinubu is fixing what PDP destroyed — that is the truth they cannot stomach,” Oladejo stated.
The APC described the PDP’s criticism of temporary school closures as “shallow,” saying the measures were intelligence-based and aimed at preventing harm.
“Only PDP would prefer children exposed to danger just so they can hold another doom-loaded press conference,” the statement said.
The Lagos APC asserted that as Nigeria’s economy improves, hostages are rescued, and terrorist networks weaken, the PDP becomes increasingly agitated.
“The PDP thrives on tragedy. They breathe through insecurity. They survive on economic pain. But Nigeria is rising — painfully for them, joyfully for the citizens.”
The statement urged the PDP to stop politicising security matters, insisting that Tinubu remains committed to safeguarding the nation.
“Nigeria will never return to the era of helplessness, surrender, and fear that the PDP proudly authored,” Oladejo stated.
