PRESIDENT TINUBU’S AIDE ADVOCATES INVESTMENT FOR DISABLED
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire has called for investment for the Physically-Challenged in the Society.
She made the call on Monday at the 2nd Ellen OlusolaCaulcrick Foundation Unified Sports at Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos State.
The former Deputy Governor of Lagos State said investing in the Disabled through scholarships and inclusivity would go a long way to make them feel a sense of belonging.
She said Persons living with disabilities needed love and encouragement and not to be kept out of the Society.
She promised to partner with a one-time Head of Service and Secretary to Lagos State Government, Mrs. AdefemiTaire, who is the Chairman of the Foundation, to enhance the living conditions of the Disabled in the Society.
Lagos State Head of Service Bode Agoro, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission, LASIEC, Abdul Rafiu Fashola Lauded the Unified Sports Initiative as a way of Shaping Perception, Belief, Culture and Association with Persons living with Disabilities.
He said it would cause progressive shift in societal attitudes towards them.
The Chairman of Ellen Olusola Caulcrick Foundation, Mrs. Adefemi Taire said the rationale is aimed at promoting inclusivity among School-age children living with or without disabilities.
She applauded the brain behind the Unified Sports and founder, Olusoye Compensatory Centre, Ellen OlusolaCaulcrick, for her commitment to a lifetime of special educational development which could unleash the innate potentials of Children with disabilities, thereby enablingthem to function as worthy Citizens and not Castaways.
The Executive Director, Ellen Olusola CaulcrickFoundation, Dr. Busola George said the Unified Sports initiative has continued to change public attitude towards disabilities by bringing together, children and Individuals with and without disabilities as Teammates.
She said it is also an Indication that inclusion works and sports has the power to build understanding, nurture empathy and celebrate our differences.
Mr. George said ‘inclusion is not a favor, it is a right and when we honor the right, we create a world where everyone belongs’.
35 Schools took part in the second edition of the Ellen Olusola Caulcrick Foundation Unified Sports and Five Games, Relay walk, Football, Tug of War, Dance competition, Filling the Bottle and Egg Relay featured.
Sanwo-Olu, Makinde, Ademike-Koya, Awobo-Pearce, Adelogbe, Torrey and Danlami Basharu Teams vied for Honors at the Sporting Event.
Prizes and Trophies were presented to Winners, by the Special Assistant to President Tinubu on Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Adejoke Ore Lope-Adefulire and the Representative of the Head of Service, OmowolaFashola.
