Comrade Japheth Odesanya Congratulates Winner of Ikorodu APC Chairmanship Primary, Reaffirms Commitment to Party and Community

A frontline aspirant in the just-concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship primary election in Ikorodu, Comrade Japheth Odesanya, has graciously accepted the outcome of the party’s internal contest, congratulating the declared winner and extending a hand of fellowship to all fellow aspirants.

In a heartfelt message titled “The Deed Is Done!!!”, Odesanya appreciated party elders, leaders, and the people of Ikorodu for their unwavering support throughout his 16-month issue-based campaign, which he said was driven by the vision of ushering in positive change under the banner of the Kolujo Movement.

“We ran a deliberate, sustained issue-based campaign for sixteen months, engaging the beautiful people of Ikorodu, feeling their warmth, acceptance, hope, love, and willingness to accept and guide the coming change as symbolised by Kolujo,” he stated.

Reflecting on his deep-rooted political journey, Odesanya recalled his early days in the struggle for democracy — from participating in the June 12 movement, joining forces with NADECO, leading the Students Union at Ogun State Polytechnic, and serving as the PRO of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), to his involvement in the evolution of progressive parties from Alliance for Democracy (AD) to the current APC.

“My political history has always been about struggle and the quest for betterment,” he noted. “The fight to restore civil rule from military junta was protracted and historic. The struggle continues.”

The grassroots politician also expressed profound gratitude to his family, friends, supporters, and particularly the Kolujo Diaspora Support Group, for what he described as “monumental partnership and unwavering dedication” to the cause.

Odesanya, who previously contested for councillorship in 2001/2002, Lagos State House of Assembly in 2010/2011, and chairmanship in 2015, praised the resilience of his supporters who have stood by him through the years.

“I remain absolutely grateful to you all,” he said.

He further urged the APC to institutionalize a more effective reward system that genuinely recognizes the contributions of loyal and active party members.

Quoting Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Odesanya ended his statement on a poetic note: “I have done the deed. Did you hear a noise?” — before reaffirming his unwavering commitment to the peace, harmony, and progress of Ikorodu.

Comrade Japheth Odesanya’s message is seen by many as a unifying gesture, reinforcing party cohesion and grassroots solidarity as the APC prepares for the local government elections.

THE DEED IS DONE!!!

My dear comrades, party members, elders and leaders of our great party, APC and the good people of Ikorodu, the primary elections for the Chairmanship of my beloved Ikorodu has come and gone and a winner declared.

I accept the decision of the party and extend my hand of fellowship to the winner and my fellow aspirants, whose desire is to serve our beloved hometown.

We ran a deliberate, sustained issue-based campaign for sixteen months, engaging the beautiful people of IKORODU, feeling their warmth, acceptance, hope, love and the willingnesss to accept and guide the coming change as symbolised by KOLUJO.

My political history has always been about struggle and the quest for betterment and is replete with involvement and engagements, first with the June 12,1993, democratic struggle. Later to National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), then to students unionism as the President,Students Union,Ogunpoly and the PRO National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

The fight to restore civil rule from the military junta was protracted and historic.

It dovetailed into the formation of Alliance for Democracy(AD), Action Congress(AC) to Action Congress of Nigeria(ACN )and now, All Progressives Congress(APC).
The struggle continues 💪✊🏾

I wish to extend my deepest appreciation to my family, friends, supporters and well wishers who stood by the Kolujo team and movement. Special mention must be made of the KOLUJO DIASPORA SUPPORT GROUP for the monumental partnership and unwavering dedication.

You have been wonderful and I cannot thank you enough.
Thank you!! God bless you all🙏.

When I contested for the councillorship of my ward in 2001/02, you stood!
I contested for Lagos State House of Assembly, Ikorodu 1, in 2010/2011, you stood!!
Again, when I contested for the Chairmanship, Ikorodu, in 2015, you stood still!!!

I remain absolutely grateful to you all. ❤️

My sincere hope is that the party evolves a better reward mechanism for appreciating active members and their contributions.

I recall the words of Macbeth in William Shakespeare’s book, Macbeth…Act 2, Scene 2:

Macbeth: ” I have done the deed. Did you hear a noise?

The answer is blowing in the wind.

I remain resolute and steadfast in my commitment to the peace, harmony and progress of our dearly beloved Ikorodu.

COMRADE JAPHETH ODESANYA
