Lagos Tourism Commissioner Seeks Immigration Partnership to Boost Visitor Experience
The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, has initiated discussions with the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) to enhance the ease of entry for visitors arriving in Lagos.
During a courtesy visit to the Comptroller General of the NIS, Mrs. Kemi Nandap, in Abuja on Friday, both officials explored areas of collaboration aimed at streamlining immigration procedures at Lagos’ airports.
The move comes in response to a surge in tourism activities in the state, following a highly successful fourth quarter of 2024 that attracted increased migration.
Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka emphasized the importance of a seamless entry process to sustain Lagos’ reputation as Nigeria’s premier tourism destination.
She noted that improving visitor experience at the entry points would further boost the state’s economy and solidify its status as a cultural and entertainment hub.
The meeting underscores Lagos State’s commitment to enhancing tourism and fostering inter-agency cooperation to attract more visitors in 2025 and beyond.
